Fort III

The single-rampart fort is built as a quadrilateral lunette. Its history dates back to 1866. Initially, it was created as a temporary structure to protect the railway lines. In the years 1875-1878, it was converted into a permanent fort. It is surrounded by a moat, filled with water. In the past, it was connected by a bridge with a hidden way, now there is a dyke there. On the main rampart, there were five barbettes for three cannons. In the side ramparts, other barbettes were placed. In total, the fort had about 35 cannons.
