Location

Nysa is situated at the Sudeckie Foothills, in the south-western part of the Opolskie Voivodeship, in close proximity to the border with the Czech Republic. Through the town, the Nysa Kłodzka River flows, on which a reservoir was created in 1972. This lake is situated within the Otmuchowsko-Nyski Protected Landscape Area, which is incorporated into the European network of the Natura 2000 protected sites. The banks of lakes and rivers are inhabited by various species of birds, including extremely rare ones such as Eurasian oystercatcher or sociable lapwing. The waters are full of pike, catfish, zander and perch as well as protected fish species. In the near distance from Nysa, there is the range of the Opawskie Mountains which are a part of the Eastern Sudety Mountains. The local forests belong to the landscape park created in 1988 and are a protected reserve. The tree stands there are more than a hundred years old. In the municipality of Nysa, we may also distinguish other nature reserves, inter alia, the “Przyłęk” reserve.
