It was established in 1988 and is under the supervision of the Board of the Opolskie Voivodeship. Currently, the entire area has an area of 13389.2 ha and is located within the Otmuchowski Depression, which is a tectonic sinkhole, which is used by the Nysa Kłodzka River in its middle course.
