The gate tower, which was a part of the city fortifications from the 14th century, is 33 metres high. It is a Gothic, two-storey building. In the 17th century, it was added a Renaissance attic with the decorative elements to perform both decorative and defensive functions. The Wrocławska and Ziębicka Gates are the only ones which were not dismantled in the 19th century during the demolition of the city walls.
