Otmuchowsko-Nyski Protected Landscape Area

It was established in 1988 and is under the supervision of the Board of the Opolskie Voivodeship. Currently, the entire area has an area of 13389.2 ha and is located within the Otmuchowski Depression, which is a tectonic sinkhole, which is used by the Nysa Kłodzka River in its middle course. The wide bottom of the valley is occupied by arable fields and meadows, partially flooded after the creation of two retention reservoirs: Lake Otmuchowskie and Lake Nyskie. The purpose of its creation was to preserve the landscape and sightseeing values for the development of recreation. The advantages of this area are: - valuable ecosystem complexes in the Nysa and Otmuchowskie Lakes, - large diversity of the topography and geological structure, - high values of the fauna and flora of the area, - one of the largest accumulations of valuable cultural resources in the Opolskie Voivodeship (Nysa, Paczków, Otmuchów).
